Critical Commentary

PALAVRAS DA EDITORA:
Em 1790, durante a vida de Mozart e Haydn, Ernst Ludwig Gerber escreveu sobre Koželuch no seu famoso manual para músicos, “sem oposição, por jovens e velhos, (…) geralmente o compositor vivo mais amado hoje”.
Suas obras exibem “vivacidade e graça, a mais nobre das melodias com a mais pura das harmonias e uma agradável organização de ritmo e modulação”.
Até agora, os pianistas tiveram poucas oportunidades de se familiarizarem com a gama completa das sonatas de Koželuch, uma vez que havia muito poucas edições modernas disponíveis.
Pela primeira vez, esta nova edição completa de Christopher Hogwood apresenta todas as sonatas para solo de piano de Koželuch.
Os quatro volumes contêm cada um de 12 a 13 sonatas, e as obras são apresentadas cronologicamente de acordo com a data de sua primeira publicação.
O Volume IV conterá as sonatas encontradas apenas em fontes manuscritas.
